Shakira Saves The Grammys

In what turned out to be a mostly dull and uneventful night in Los Angeles at the Grammy Awards, Shakira stole the show with a memorable performance of her chart-topping hit Hips Don’t Lie with Wyclef Jean.

The pair opened with an Acoustica introduction to the high-tempo dance track, which they pulled off perfectly. They then turned up the beat and Shakira bellydanced around on stage in her own trademarked style awakening many who had snoozed through the first hour of the show. Check out a video of the sizzling performance below:

There were no awards for the Colombian unfortunately. She was beaten in the one category she was nominated for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals by Stevie Wonder and Tony Bennett.

Shakira is to write three new songs for the movie adaption of the classic Gabriel Garcia Marquez novel “Love In The Time Of Cholera”.

Marquez and Shakira are known to be great friends from Colombia, and the hip shakin’ Latin artist is said to be only too happy to be given the opportunity to contribute music to the project. The movie will be adapted by Mike Newell, who was the creator of “Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire” and “Four Weddings and a funeral”, with Shakira agreeing to contribute three songs.

Gabriel José García Márquez, also known as Gabo (born March 6, 1927), is a Colombian novelist, journalist, publisher, political activist, and recipient of the 1982 Nobel Prize in Literature.

Norah Jones: Shakira Is A Hottie

You might have expected the seemingly mild-mannered Norah Jones to quickly pass on a question that asked her to tell us: “If your boyfriend were to give you a free pass for a night-anyone, man or woman…”

But the soulful Jazz singer had no trouble revealing her choice would be a woman, and that woman would be Shakira — the sexiest of them all in music.

“Probably Shakira. She’s hot. I like that she’s this pop star, but she’s also kind of unique and weird,” Jones told Blender magazine. “I always sing Shakira when I karaoke.”

Who would have guessed that?

Jones new album “Not Too Late” is currently riding high in the album charts both at home, and internationally too. And while you probably wont get the chance to use Norah’s material to seduce Shakira into sharing a night of passion with you, it certainly does help set the right tone for anyone else you might care to bring back to yours for the evening.

Glamorous ‘Hips-Don’t-Lie’ pop star, Shakira, has helped SEAT design a unique Leon Cupra as a competition prize, in order to raise money for her own charity. At a press conference in the Max Schmeling Halle in Berlin at the weekend - officially kicking off her European tour - SEAT and Shakira revealed the special Cupra that will benefit the star’s charity, the Fundación Pies Descalzos (Bare Feet Foundation).

This emblem also graces the B-pillar, while polished black paint is used on the Cupra’s 18-inch alloy wheels.
