Shakira Sends Peruvian Fans Wild

Shakira fans worth their salt know her hips don’t lie and so it proved as she sent concert goers into a frenzy with her frenetic belly dancing at a gig in Lima.
The Colombian is in Peru for the last leg of her Oral Fixation tour, and loyal fans hung around outside her hotel in the capital to scream, dance and try and catch a glimpse of the star.
Up to 24,000 Peruvians were loving her work and her new dark hair.
She saved the best until last, playing the massive summer hit Hips Don’t Lie during her encore which saw the crowds descend into hip shaking bedlam.
The singer is off to Ecuador next week before heading to Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
She is planning to come over to Europe for a series of tour dates next year.
Shakira To Issue Marriage Pre-Nup?

If Antonio de la Rua wants to get those truthful hips down the wedding aisle, he is likely to have to sign a pre-nup agreement with the Colombian.
According to a Colombian newspaper, an attorney close to the family of Shakira has been working on an agreement since October last year. The article goes onto say that Antonio will have to sign away the normal rights he would expect from marriage — that is half the Shakira fortune.
However, there is a contradiction in the article. The piece reportedly quotes Shakira as telling the press in Argentina she already feels married to Antonio, and that they have no plans to make things official. She also denies being pregnant, another source of the rumours predicting her marriage.
Shakira shakes up Santiago, Chile

Shakira, one of the world’s most popular touring solo acts, stopped in Santiago for a two-night stint on her “Oral Fixation” tour, playing to almost sold-out crowds at Santiago National Arena.
In between her two concerts, the pop star took the time Wednesday to meet with Chilean President Michelle Bachelet.
With 12,000 anxious and exhilarated fans attending Tuesday’s first concert, Shakira played sets of her best-known English and Spanish songs. One of the most popular pop stars in the business, she made it clear to her fans that she was a proud Latina first, and a superstar second. She not only has a brilliant future as a critically acclaimed songstress, but also as a young political activist with a lot of pull.
In October 2003, the Grammy Award-winning Shakira was appointed a global Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, the world’s leading organization for children.

Shakira has been named the Top Latin Artist at the American Music Awards ceremony held in Los Angeles last night.
The hip-shakin’ Colombian beat Daddy Yankee and Don Omar to the award.
In two days, Shakira is set to ignite Buenos Aires with two sizzling performance for sellout crowds at the Velez Sarsfield stadium.

Once her Oral Fixation World Tour is done, Shakira has revealed she intends on taking a year away from the music business. The Colombian made the relevation during her huge homecoming in her hometown of Barranquilla this week.
“I think I deserve it. It’s good to stay at home and think about one’s self a little. To be with loved ones and accompany them in their own dreams like they’ve done with mine. Antonio had dedicated himself to my projects for a long time, he’s made them his and that for me is a great gift. Now it’s time for me to support him in the realization of his dreams.”
Shakira has also scotched rumors she intends on pursuing a path as an actress because the idea “terrifies her”.
Security Tight For Shakira Home Shows

For Shakira’s three concerts in her home country, organizers have announced a huge security staff and said that at least 3,600 police officers will be part of the force.
To guarantee the safe entrance of more than 100 thousand people at her performances in the Colombian cities of Barranquilla, Bogotá and Cali, organizers are bringing in their top security to avoid problems at entrances.
Organizers have said that each concert site will be guarded by 1,200 police officers. A total of 3,600 will be employed by the singer in three Colombian cities.
This week Shakira will start her tour through Colombia with more than 80 people on her production team, most of whom are already in the country making preparations.
After her first show in her home city of Barranquilla, where she’ll give a concert to raise money for a school for poor children, Shakira will hit Bogotá, where she plans a show for more than 50 thousand people at Simón Bolivar Park.

Shakira added another award to her rapidly growing collection when she was named the World’s Best Latin Artist at a ceremony in London’s Earls Court last night.
The World Music Awards celebrates the best of musical talent across a broad spectrum of genres. Shakira was nominated for two awards last night, but was beaten by Madonna for the prize of World’s Best Pop Artist.
In other categories, Nickelback picked up the Worlds Best Rock Act, Beyonce won as the Worlds Best R&B artist, and Kanye West ruled as the King of Bling a.k.a. the Best Rap/Hip-Hop Artist.
Shakira welcomed home in style

Shakira received an emotional welcome home on Wednesday when she arrived in her hometown Barranquilla, Colombia.
Her fans in the port city unveiled a huge six-tonne statue of the hip-shakin’ music icon who has taken the world by storm with a perfect blend of English pop and sultry Latin influenced sounds. Shakira was visibly moved by the moment. Later, she was to play a concert.
“Barranquilla is the big breast that fed and nurtured me as a human being, a woman and an artist,” said Shakira. “Returning is a chance to be with all the people from whom I learned and to pay homage to my roots.”
Earlier, at the stadium for Wednesday’s concert, a cornet-led band, carnival dance troupe and 3,000 fans joined Shakira’s father for the unveiling of a three-metre iron statue of her likeness made and donated by a German fan.
Shakira records duet with Miguel Bosé

Shakira recently arrived early in Panama to have the time to record a special duet with Spanish singer and actor Miguel Bosé in a local studio. The track will appear on Bosé’s new album.
Bosé is currently working on finishing his new album, as well as a greatest hits tour slated for next year.
Meanwhile, Shakira revealed she plans to return to Panama later in December to launch her new foundation against poverty throughout Latin America. The foundation is a project the Colombian shares with Mexican group Maná and the Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz.
Chavez saves Shakira show

Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez stepped in to save Shakira’s show in the country by opening a military base for the superstar.
The BBC reported that Shakira was struggling to find a venue in the country big enough for her fans. The Colombian’s management appealed to the president for help. He obliged by opening a military airbase - the venue for a political coup in 2002 that saw Chavez temporarily lose power, and the only site big enough in Caracas to hold 10,000 fans.
Chavez was also quoted as saving: “Maybe I’ll put on a wig and go see Shakira.”
